Bought a marlin from a big box store. Previous owner had fluted the chamber resulting in all factory ammo sticking in the chamber and failing to extract, the brass was just completely covered in soot from case mouth to bolt face and i had to re-barrel the rifle (same cartridge). Anyone who has seen a fluted chamber will know exactly what I am referring to. Anyhow, the barrel wasn’t a perfect replacement as my rifle is an early 2000’s model and the barrel looks to be an 80s era so things didn’t line up perfectly.
